Bird Cafe

Time: 11.00am – 12.30am and 1.30pm –3.00pm Leader: Sarah Sawyer and RSPB staff Flock down to Brockweir Village Shop and take part in the Big Garden Bird Watch. The Big Garden Birdwatch is an annual event run by the RSPB. The data collected by the public gives a snap shot of how the nations garden birds are doing. Any one can take part, staff will be on hand to help identify birds for youngsters and you can make your own bird feeder to take home. A fun family activity.

Basket weaving course

Time: 10am – 4pm Join Judith Hartley to learn the traditional skill of basket weaving. This two day course will cover the basics of willow basket weaving with your own hand crafted basket to take home. The course will take place in a rural village hall and participants will receive tuition in small groups.

Forest Sculptures Phyllis Lewis

This collection of sculptures in clay depicts scenes from the Forest of Dean by ceramic artist Phyllis Lewis. They tell the story of Forest life, from mining and charcoal burning, to traditional suppers, the hard-up tree, and sheep. They capture the past with humour.

Daffodil Valley

Time: 2pm Leader: Heather Hurley Location: Hoarwithy, opposite the New Harp Inn GR 546293 Distance: approx. 3 miles Join Heather Hurley, local historian, to explore paths from Hoarwithy up to Grandoo’s Coppice to view the daffodils in an almost unknown valley.
